Frequently Asked Questions
We try to anticipate questions you
might have about our custom quilting service and provide the
answers here. If you need additional information send email
to MaritaW@pacbell.net. |
What if I know what kind of pattern I want, but it's not listed on your home page and isn't in the On-Line Store? Give me a call, and I'll let you know if I have the pattern and can accomodate your request. |
Do I provide the fabric, or do
you? If you have already have the fabric (or would like to go to
a local quilt shop and make your own selections), that's
fine. I'll work with you so you'll know exactly how much to
buy. Or, I can select the fabric, based on your color
preferences. Either way is fine! |
Do you make "custom" quilts, or just the ones that you have shown on your site? The ones shown in the on-line store are ready for shipment. If you see one that you like, but would like it in a different size or color combination, I can make one to fit your needs. |
What is the cost for a "custom"
quilt? The cost of the quilt is driven by the time it takes to make
it, and that is sometimes difficult to determine ahead of
time. My charge is $25 per hour, plus the cost of the fabric
and the batting. Give me a call, and I can give you a pretty
good estimate (ball park figure) of how much it'll cost. |
What is your turnaround
time? That it depends on how busy I am (how many orders are in
front of you). A large bed quilt could take up to a
month or two. Keep in mind if I'm real busy, it may be
longer. However, I'll make very effort to keep the turnaround
time to a minimum. |
If I have a pattern (or kit) that
I would like you to make, can you? Lots of my clients go to their local (or on-line) quilt shop
and purchase patterns or kits for me to make. However,
there are certain quilting techniques I am not proficient in, for
example intricate applique. But, any type of strip quilting or
basic pattern is generally "doable" for me. Give me a call,
and I'll let you know if I'm able to complete your pattern or
kit. |
How do you "finish" your quilts? By profession, I am a long-arm quilter so all my quilts are "machine" quilted using a Gammill long-arm quilting machine. I also hand finish the binding, which results in a beautifully finished edge. |
